Tongariro Alpine Crossing
Book your bus at our Taupo holiday park’s reception, for the best one day hike in New Zealand. White Water Rafting
The Tongariro River is one of New Zealand’s most famous. Its magic waters provide fun-filled roller coaster riders with exhilarating rapids, crystal clear pools and breathtaking gorges. Grade 3 white water makes this one of the most popular trips for families. In two and a half hours you navigate over 50 rapids! See local flora and fauna during the drifts across slower water, included so that you can enjoy the wilderness scenery. A leisurely one and a half hour float is also available for younger families. This is an exciting Taupo activity for families.

Tongariro Helicopter Flights
Fly across Lake Taupo to see the most stunning volcanic alpine scenery in the North Island and the World Heritage Tongariro National Park. Get up close and fly over the crater lakes of Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe and the stunning Emerald Lakes. Photograph stunning lava flows, glacial valleys and colourful volcanic formations that are only visible from the air. During this great Taupo activity, we have options available to set down in the Kaimanawa Mountain Park – land in the snow, or options available for those chasing our trophy trout - then fly past the White Cliffs on your way back to Taupo.

Mountain Biking
Some of the best mountain biking in New Zealand is to be found in Tongariro, with the most popular 42nd Traverse and the awesome Fishers Track. The 42nd Traverse involves brilliant biking on old logging tracks through remote native bush and has an overall descent of 570m and can take up to 8 hours. The Fishers Track starts in National Park Village where a short climb leads to the best panoramic views. From here you descend through native bush and farm land a massive 17km downhill!
